What is a Data Protection Officer (DPO)?
The Data Protection Officer (DPO) is a key figure introduced by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This professional is responsible for overseeing compliance with data protection regulations within an organization. In Spanish, this role is known as Delegado de Protección de Datos (DPO).
The DPO informs and advises the data controller or processor on its legal obligations, monitors compliance and acts as the point of contact between the entity and the supervisory authority.
